Balham Women's Support Group
On 7 December 2025, the Women’s Support Group was launched – an initiative that arose from the need to create a space where women can meet, pause and spend time together in an atmosphere of kindness and understanding.
In a world where everyday life often requires strength, agency and constant action, it is difficult to find a moment to look at ourselves and our emotions.
The support group is intended to be a place where we can shed the burden of expectations and allow ourselves to be authentic.
We will meet twice a month beginning in January, coming to the group is free and it held at the White Eagle Club, 211 Balham High Road, SW17 7BQ.
We are hoping to provide optional meals so you can eat and talk too, the cost of the meal is expected to be £15 but will add more information very soon, plus dates for January.Â

What You Can Expect
The essence of this group is conversation – calm, unobtrusive, but deep. The meetings are an invitation to share stories that we often carry within ourselves for too long. Each participant brings her own experiences to the space: joys, difficulties, moments of doubt or breakthroughs. When we say them out loud, they cease to be just our silent burden. They take on a form that allows us to look at them with distance, and others to respond with empathy.
The support group exists to remind us that although each of us has our own individual path, many of our experiences are deeply shared. Women carry roles on their shoulders that often overlap: partners, mothers, daughters, employees, carers, organisers of everyday life. It is easy to get lost in this multitude of responsibilities, and even easier to believe that ‘we should cope on our own’. Meanwhile, meeting others shows us that we don’t have to. That asking for support is not a sign of weakness, but of courage.
Conversation has extraordinary healing power. Spoken words can dispel fear, reduce feelings of loneliness and give hope that change is possible. A special kind of energy is born in a group of women – delicate, yet very strong. It is the energy of closeness, understanding and mutual encouragement. Thanks to it, participants discover that their voice has value, their experience matters, and their emotions deserve attention.
That is why the Women’s Support Group is important. Not only as a project, meeting or initiative, but as a space that reminds us of a fundamental truth: people need other people. And conversation – honest, attentive and safe – is one of the simplest yet most powerful tools for building balance, strength and a sense of community.
